Rev. Walter Fleischmann, son of Immanuel’s first pastor, was called to serve the congregation in 1920. He was born at DeWitt, NE, February 1, 1883, and received his BA from Wartburg College at Clinton, IA. He received his theological training at Wartburg Seminary at Dubuque, IA, and was ordained into the ministry at Waverly in June 1910.
Mrs. Fleischmann, the former Ottillie Deurschner, was born at Talmage July 25, 1888. She attended Wartburg College and was graduated from the Ladies Lutheran Seminary at Red Wing, MN. They were married October 13, 1911, at Waverly, IA.
They served congregations at Atkinson, Superior, Coleridge and Talmage, NE, Loveland, CO, and Eaton, CO. Rev. Fleischmann observed his 50th anniversary in the ministry in June of 1960.
While Rev. Fleischmann was pastor at Immanuel, it was decided to have services both in the English and German language. In May of 1924 Rev. Fleischmann left Immanuel on account of his health.
Rev. and Mrs. Fleischmann were the parents of three sons: Walter (also known as Anthony Dexter), Kurt and Vic.
