In 1916 Pastor A. G. Ottersberg accepted a call from Immanuel Lutheran where he would serve until January of 1920. Alke Gerdes Ottersberg was born October 31, 1864 at Spetzerfehn, East Friesland, Germany. In 1893 he immigrated to America and entered Wartburg Theological Seminary in Dubuque, IA, to prepare for the ministry.
Upon graduation in 1896 he served an extensive mission parish at Hosmer, SD. Later he served established congregations at Parkston, SD, and at Fulda, MN.
After leaving Immanuel at Coleridge, he served congregations at Grove Hill, IA, and at Milford. At age 65 in 1929 he retired and resided thereafter at Waverly, IA, and died at age 90 in 1955.
In 1897 Rev. Ottersberg was married to Julie Fritschel, daughter of Sigmund Fritschel, theological professor at Wartburg Seminary. Their children included a son, Gerhard, and four daughters, Emma, Elise, Helene and Frieda.
